Purpose
The Whole Earth Festival began in 1969 as a small art class project (“Art Happening”) on the UC Davis Quad. Students would teach visitors about the realms of activism, wellness, and environmental sustainability in an interactive and creative way. Following the United Nations’ recognition of Earth Day in 1970, the event was renamed to the Whole Earth Festival, fondly nicknamed ‘WEF’. WEF has since evolved into a free 3-day student-run event, attracting over 30,000 visitors annually on Mother’s Day weekend.

- You are responsible for contributing your perspective to the Whole Earth Festival community with intentions of respect, inclusivity, and education.
- You are responsible for having an open and respectful mind to all perspectives within and outside of the Whole Earth Festival community.
On WEF staff, we will work together, we will learn from one other, we will laugh and sweat and problem-solve together. We are excited to collaborate on WEF’s continuing evolution with you!
*There are multiple different specific staff positions that fall under ‘Coordinator 2’, based on the amount of hours each staff position will work weekly. Please specify which of the following positions you are applying for when answering the supplemental application questions:
-Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Coordinator (2): The DEI coordinators will focus on ensuring that staff, festival attendees, performers, and vendors of different backgrounds are empowered and supported throughout the year, whether that be in meetings, on our media platforms, and during the festival. This is a relatively new position to the festival and we are excited to grow the festival with you!
-Food Booths Coordinator (2): The Food Booths Coordinators are responsible for researching and recruiting vegetarian food vendors to attend the festival. In addition, you will help facilitate and manage the food booths during the festival.
-Publicity Coordinator (2): The Publicity Coordinators serve as the marketing chair for the festival, frequently reaching out to the Davis community and beyond to encourage excitement and attendance to the festival. You will be responsible for running the Whole Earth Festival social media accounts, as well as updating our website.
If you wish to apply for multiple positions, please explain your experience and skillset as they pertain to each position you are applying for when answering the supplemental questions.
