Old Navy Credit Card Review
4.7 / 5
- Pretty sweet welcome presents. Not only will you receive 30% discount on the first purchase that you make with your Old Navy Credit Card, but you’ll also get 250 bonus points each quarter that you make a purchase at the family of brands. That’s a lot of value there for the taking, providing reason enough to apply for the Old Navy Card.
- 5% back at a quartet of retailers. You will earn 5 points per $1 spent at Old Navy, Gap, Banana Republic and Athleta. That equates to 5% back, considering 100 points are worth $1 in store credit. In other words, the Old Navy Card gives you just as much rewards value as other leading retail-affiliated credit cards, while giving you more flexibility in terms of where you can shop and what you can redeem earnings for.
- Bad if you don’t pay in full. The Old Navy Credit Card was built for rewards, not carrying a balance from month to month. After all, it doesn’t offer a 0% introductory rate and its regular APR is a lofty one. That’s well above even the 26.85% charged by the average credit card for fair credit, according to WalletHub’s latest Credit Card Landscape Report. So do yourself a favor and plan to always pay your monthly Old Navy Card bills in full.
- Mastercard or store depends on your score. There are actually two different Old Navy Credit Cards: the Old Navy Mastercard Credit Card and the Old Navy Store Card. But you don’t get to choose between them. The issuer, Barclays Bank US, decides that for you, based on your overall creditworthiness. People with good or excellent credit typically get the Old Navy Mastercard Card, while those with fair credit get the store card. Fortunately, the only real difference in their terms is the fact that you get 1 point per $1 spent outside the Old Navy family with the Mastercard, while you can only use the store card at affiliated brands. You can check your credit score for free on WalletHub to see which Old Navy Card is most likely in your future.
- No annual fee. Neither Old Navy Credit Card charges an annual fee, which is obviously good news for your wallet. Just bear in mind that this is not unique. Most store-affiliated credit cards don’t have annual fees.

Old Navy Credit Card is a Mastercard, not a Visa. You can use your Old Navy Credit Card at nearly 11 million merchants that accept Mastercard nationwide, and you can use it abroad in more than 200 countries and territories.
There are a few differences between Mastercard and Visa credit cards, such as the network-level benefits they offer, but those differences are relatively small. The two card networks have a lot in common, including extensive worldwide acceptance. As a result, it's more...

They make it very difficult to obtain your rewards after sending you multiple promotions. I've had to call and spend hours on the phone to get the points and then the rewards. Would not recommend.

Get ready for Barclay to ruin your credit. They don't send you a card, and before you can figure out whom to pay, they mark your first payment as late on your credit report. Then, a year later, I open a better credit card, always maintaining a zero balance with Barclays, and they reduce my credit limit to $250. What a show of distrust. I'm closing it.

The Old Navy Credit Card, issued by Barclays, is unsatisfactory. On several occasions, I was charged a $30.00 late fee despite having proof from my bank that the payment was not late. I have decided to sever ties with this bank and have closed my account. Speaking with the supervisor did not resolve the issue, as she offered no assistance other than suggesting she could call my bank. It is disappointing. I strongly advise against using this credit card and engaging with Barclays Bank, especially considering their high interest rates, which can reach 30%.

If I could give them 0, I would. My credit was hacked. I had to freeze all my credit and, fortunately, I was able to stop most of it. However, they somehow got into my Old Navy account. I filed a claim and even have evidence that I put my credit on hold before this happened, but they denied it because I had possession of the card, which makes no sense to me. I would think that's an even bigger reason to accept it. They are the worst, not looking out for their customers' best interests, just focusing on money.

I only had this account for a few months and they closed my account for being non active. They did not allow much time for me to even use it hardly. My highest balance was $46 out of a $300 credit limit. Synchrony Financial must have strict guidelines. I would not recommend.....it just hurts your score instead of helping it.

I wish I could give this card a ZERO!! DO NOT GET THIS CARD. It’sa cute thing to have a card for the store but the high interest rate is NOT worth it. Please please listen to this and just buy what you going to buy in the store. This is the worst of ALL my credit cards in history.

I thought this was a great card until I saw they are charging an extra fee if you only make a minimum payment. That would be fine if they advised of tjis in advance, I'd just change my payment but they do not. And if your balance equals the min payment required, they still charge you a fee. So if you only carry a $20 balance and then pay it off you get charged extra because you would only be paying the minimum amount. Completely stupid and shady.
