David Shepard Smith Jr.

(born January 14, 1964) is a former American broadcast journalist. He served as chief general news anchor and host of The News with Shepard Smith on CNBC, a daily evening newscast launched in late September 2020; but his program was canceled in November 2022.

NEW YORK (AP) — CNBC is canceling Shepard Smith's nightly newscast after two years, with its new president saying he wanted to focus on the network's core strength of business news. Smith, who is leaving the network, will have his last telecast sometime later this month.

As part of his contract extension, Baier will continue in his role as anchor and executive editor of the network's “Special Report” newscast, co-anchor of 2024 election coverage and host of “The Bret Baier Podcast” on Fox News Audio.

Kelly left Fox News in January 2017 and joined NBC News. She started hosting the third hour of the morning show Today with her program titled Megyn Kelly Today in September 2017. The show was cancelled in October 2018 after a segment discussing blackface, and she left the network in January 2019.

In 2024, Shepard's salary is not publicly disclosed. However, during his tenure at Fox News, he earned an impressive $15 million per year. Although his current earnings at CNBC remain unknown, his past contracts suggest he continues to be one of the richest broadcast journalists.

On the December 12, 2021, episode of Fox News Sunday, Wallace announced that it would be his final day hosting the program. It was later announced that Wallace had been hired by CNN to host a new program for its streaming service CNN+, which launched in April 2022.

Kayla Tausche, senior White House correspondent and anchor for CNBC, said that she is leaving the network after almost 13 years. Tausche announced on Twitter that “it's time for a new adventure.”
